Healing Perspectives: Thok

This is the one fight where the big baddie we fight actually seems both to me – big and bad. If there was one fight I saved my all caps “OH MAH GAWD” moments for, this would be it. Just saying – having a ridiculously huge dinosaur come charging at you is a legit… and I mean legit reason to panic.

Not that I panicked. Not once. Nope. Ok… maybe twice. No, really.

OK FINE HE ATE ME THREE TIMES ALREADY! *ahem*

Healing Perspectives: Council of Elders

I’m slowly catching up on my healing posts! Council of Elders is one of those fights where the sheer list of abilities can make it seem like a complex fight, but actually keeping track of them in the fight isn’t half as hard. This fight is very much like Spirit Kings – with more chaos and a soft enrage timer. In general, the raid should be spread out for this fight.

The key to this fight is Gara’jal the Spiritbinder, who apparently has a difficult time moving on. So he makes life difficult for us by empowering each of the troll Elders. They gain different abilities when they are empowered, and the longer the fight gets, the more difficult it gets to heal.

Healing Perspectives: Garalon

Garalon is one of those fights that is awful while learning but beautiful once mastered. Well….as beautiful as a bug could get I suppose. For a complete detailed strategy on the fight, I highly recommend checking out many of the great resources on it. This post is primarily from a healing perspective and assumes basic knowledge of the mechanics.

Healing Perspectives: Spirit Kings

Spirit Kings is an interesting fight which involves dealing with four types of foes – each with their own quirky title. The good news is that we get to deal with one after another. The bad news is that much like ghosts of christmas past, one of their abilities haunts us to the very end of the overall fight, even after they’ve each been defeated. (I’ve made special note next to the abilities that persist through death). This fight is ALL about raid awareness and personal responsibility – its about taking your time, doing the dance and not getting killed.

Healing Perspectives: Gara’jal the Spiritbinder

This is me playing catch up. With my month long vacation, there were a bunch of healing guides that got left in my drafts folder and didn’t get published when I would’ve liked them to. Well, better late than never! Gara’jal the Spiritbinder is a fun and interesting fight although I, as usual, had mixed feelings about fighting a Zandalari troll. I can’t let go of the fact that my druid is exalted with them!

The fight takes place in the real world and the spirit realm, with the final enrage phase at 20% health. The real world is incredibly heal-intensive with three random players taking “voodoo doll” damage, while the spirit realm prioritises getting folks up to 100% health on a 30 second deadline. All in all, Gara’jal is an incredibly fun and fast-paced fight to heal.

Healing Perspectives: The Stone Guard

This is a really cool fight which involves battling three out of the four stone statues guarding the vaults. The four guardians are Jade, Amethyst, Jasper and Cobalt – each having different abilities in addition to their AoE “overload”.  The mechanics of the fight in general rely on watching the energy bar of the guardian, well-timed tank swaps, and making sure that the right type of guardian is doing the overload so it is mitigated by the debuff they provide.

Discipline Priest Healing in 5.0.4

This last week has been that familiar time where my healing world gets turned upside down and I have to relearn it all over again. Like all classes, Discipline healing has seen an overhaul in mechanics, stats and priorities. A week ago I felt awesome in my BiS gear and after the patch hit, I was gasping for mana – and my BiS gear wasn’t so BiS anymore. If this sounds familiar, fear not. You’re not alone and with a little tweaking and switching up of priorities, Discipline healing gets to be fun and interesting. Without further ado, here are my first impressions of Discipline healing in 5.0.4:  Continue Reading »

Healing Perspectives: Beth’tilac

It is time to kill spiders! Our foe here is none other than Beth’tilac, the Red Widow. And when they said red, boy did they mean red. This is a fun, two phase fight which involves a bit of add management, climbing through her fiery web and a lot of spider squishing. This post, as usual, will focus on this fight for healers rather than a complete rundown of the mechanics. Let’s see what tricks this spider has up her sleeve!
