Caution: Mild Spoilers for the Alliance Broken Shore scenario – I don’t spell it out but the spoiler is implied.
This is a series I’ve been wanting to write for a while now – a special tribute to all the gnomes who have touched our lives in Azeroth. Today I’ll be starting out with one of my favourite stories of a wonderful father: Windle Sparkshine.
Windle Sparkshine, father of Kinndy Sparkshine can be found in Dalaran. Kinndy was a bright and promising mage who was apprenticing under Jaina Proudmoore at the time. During the cataclysmic bombing of Theramore, Kinndy along with many others lost their lives to the evil of Garrosh Hellscream. Windle now walks the streets of Dalaran and lights the lamps of the city every night at 9pm in memory of his beloved daughter.
Windle also sells a lighter that you can use to light any other lamps and torches in Dalaran. It has the touching flavour text: “Shine one!”
The Sparkshines’ full story can be found in the book by Christie Golden, “Tides of War”. Their story always gets me, and it’s stories like these that keep me coming back to Azeroth.
As a fitting tribute to the sacrifice of Kinndy, in Legion, Windle’s lights show an image of a laughing and cheerful Kinndy as he goes around and lights the lamps.
Chest: Lesser Wizard’s Robe
Shoulders: Elder’s Mantle
Feet: Replica Magister’s Boots
Gloves: Exiled Dabbler’s Gloves (or the sneaky no-glove look as I call it)
Head: Regal Wizard Hat
Waist: Wastewalker’s Sash (Windle has a custom tailor because I couldn’t find an exact match – but this one comes pretty close. There are many others that look nice like Serenity Belt and Gossamer Belt)
Cloak: Mantle of Gnomeregan (His custom tailor strikes again… so I just went with the Mantle of Gnomeregan – hard to go wrong with it)
Tabard: Tabard of the Kirin Tor
There are many things I am excited about in Legion (even if it is cautious excitement), but the announcement that made me jump for joy was undoubtedly the large, sweeping and ridiculously awesome changes to transmogrification. That’s right, it’s all about the FASHUNZ!
Legion has plans to revamp transmog in a way that will make it easier to use, more accessible to alts, do away with bag space issues….and the real icing on the cake, access items you may have deleted or completed quests for in the past.
Ideas for this one came to me while thinking about the RP aspect of a medic. Life isn’t sunshine and sprockets – sometimes there are hard decisions to be made, and sometimes we are the bearers of bad news. And with being a priest, there’s always darkness where there’s light.
Finally, there’s a theme that’s been the driving force of this entire expansion: dealing with our inner demons of despair, doubt, fear and such. We’re battling the Sha ingame, but we’re also very often dealing with our own RL versions of them.
Ah Benediction. It’s the staff that screams “priest” and is an icon from the days of long long ago. Ever since the introduction of transmogrification, I’ve been eagerly waiting for a chance to bring out Bene from the bank. Sadly, for the longest time I’ve been stuck with the mainhand – offhand combination for PvE reasons. Last week, all my Mogu Runes of magic finally paid off and Ji-Kun finally dropped his staff for me! And so it’s time bring out Benediction.
Here are my picks of outfits to sport Benediction with!
This past week, my thoughts wandered somewhat nostalgically to old Azeroth. There was one place in particular that I still miss going to – the Mirage Raceway. No matter what I was playing, or which faction I was on at the time, I loved going down with my mechanohog to just hang out and ‘race’.
Those memories are the inspiration for the latest transmog outfit – the ‘gnome racer’. I wanted the outfit to be snazzy, befitting of a racer afterall, and yet comfy and practical while my gnome revved up her mechanohog and prepared to leave goblins in the dust.
I just happen to put this one together today on a whim – mostly from wanting a change from all the pinkess of Alanna’s Embrace.
The last couple posts of mine make it seem like healing strats are all I have going for me. An update and is in order and I’ll post it soon, when I’m ready. Until then, there’s been enough going on lately for me that I just want to revisit a part of Warcraft that takes the stress away and puts the fun back in it a little bit for me. And nothing does it for me like outfits. 🙂
My latest outfit is a lovely change to pink. Alanna’s Embrace is one of those beautiful robes that I farmed for shortly before Mists hit. There was talk of Scholomance being revamped and loot tables changing and my buddy convinced me to suck it up and spend a day in the instance until these robes were mine. I’m glad he got on my case because sadly, these robes are no longer available in game.
My favourite part about this set is how elegant it looks without showing a whole lot of skin. It’s a nice change – and I love having flowers as my offhand! 🙂
Where to get the set:
Chest: Alanna’s Embrace (no longer available)
Shoulders: Replica Magister’s Mantle (75 Darkmoon Tokens, Auction House)
Hands: Soulcloth Gloves (Tailoring BoE)
Belt: Ruthless Gladiator’s Cord of Accuracy (Honour Points)
Feet: Ringo’s Blizzard Boots ( Blackwing Lair, random drop)
Weapon: War-Mace of Unrequited Love (Heroic Nexus, Keristrasza)
Off-hand: Lei of the Life-giver (50 Honour, Alterac Valley Vendor)
A long long time ago, back in the days of Zul’Aman and the Burning Crusade, there existed a robe that looked ever so sexy. These Robes of Heavenly Purpose were aptly nicknamed by a wowhead user to be “Robes of Heavenly Cleavage” – and that’s what today’s post is about!
Transmogrification gave us a new freedom to beat down the bad guys while looking fabulous. Sometimes that means wearing a daunting set that exemplifies the essence of your class – and other times it means you get to look straight up sexy. Goodbye subtlety, farewell modesty – this post showcases Azeroth’s sexiest robes that show it off and dazzle their enemies to death. 🙂
