Patch 5.0.4: Discipline Priest Glyph Options

Glyphs have seen a bit of an overhaul this patch – gone are the days of three tier glyphs. We now only have major glyphs and minor glyphs to work with now, and can only activate three of each at the same time.

I found glyph choices so far to be quite interesting and like the talent choices, there seems to be no easy answer to what is “good” and what is “bad”.  Here’s my take on discipline priest glyph options:

Patch 5.0.4: Discipline Priest Changes

Change is in the air again and it’s time to take a good look at the new talents and abilities Discipline has in store! Overall, I like that the core mechanics of Discipline healing are going to remain fairly familiar – Rapture, Divine Aegis, Grace and all the others are still going to be around, granted in a new reincarnated sort of way. Hey, a pre-expansion patch wouldn’t be a pre-expansion patch without kicking up some dust! This is less of a blow-by-blow account of every single change and more of a highlight on the big healing changes. Here we go!

Memories of Theramore

I recently read the article by Anne Stickney over at WoW Insider on the history of Theramore, and it got me thinking about my own memories of Theramore from leveling in the pre-Cataclysm world.

Be warned that this post may make some references to upcoming story in Mists of Pandaria – so turn away now if you’d like to avoid spoilers!

Just Be Zen!

In the last couple days I had a bit of a scare while keeping up with how priests were shaping up in beta. I saw some incredibly depressing logs that showed that paladins and monks were outhealing priests by a factor of 2! Now, I’m no world first chaser but this kind of discrepancy had me worried as memories of Cataclysm’s launch came flooding back.

Thankfully, Ghostcrawler clarified the issue stating:

“It’s probably not possible to overcome that much of a difference. Fortunately, you don’t have to, because paladins and monks both had some egregious bugs that inflated their healing. We actually hotfixed those bugs but then a new build broke them again. Until you get a new build or we hotfix the issues again, you are probably better off comparing druid, priest and shaman healing. I apologize for any inconvenience.”

In the meantime, I went ahead and rolled a gnome monk on beta.  They are just adorable, hilarious and awesome all rolled into one! And as the balance issues and class issues get ironed out until launch, I’m going to be zen just like her! 🙂
